The AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED is a compact 3.6x zoom lens featuring state-of-the-art optical technologies, including Vibration Reduction (VR), Nikon’s ED glass element and Silent Wave Motor (SWM). It has been specifically designed to complement DX format sensors found in Nikon’s line-up of advanced D-SLR cameras, including the new D40X digital SLR camera.
Offering powerful zoom performance of 55-200mm (equivalent picture angle of 82.5-300mm in 35mm format), this lens is suitable for every type of photography, from candid portraits to sports, nature and wildlife photography.
Nikon’s VR system helps eliminate image blur caused by camera shake, particularly when shooting in low-light situations. This lets you use shutter speeds up to three times slower than you would normally use, resulting in sharper, well-exposed images. Nikon’s VR system also stabilizes the image seen in the viewfinder, easing picture composition.
