Incredibly Pleased!
I recently purchased my second R5 as well as an RF-70 200 L2.8 lens at Vistek and I couldn't be more happy. Noel Rozario assisted me with my purchases in both cases and not only is his knowledge extensive but the time he took to patiently go over features and key points on all my camera equipment was incredible. Noel also took the time to thoroughly answer all my questions and in the process, made me feel like a deeply valued customer. My cameras and lens are all performing in an incredible manner and the customer service Noel provided is unequaled. I highly recommend Vistek and Noel. Thank you!

Great Camera body but not perfect by any means, the animal eye af is vastly overrated
Let me first disclose that I have ran about 200k shots through this body since buying it a few months ago and overall it is fantastic. I do have to say that certain features have been extremely overstated by many of the reviews, notably the animal eye af. At first I was blown away by its ability to seemingly find the eye and lock on automatically. Sadly reality kicked in when I realized that it was missing focus very often on small subjects in good light. In fact in seemingly easy scenarios it would not actually lock on the eye. The issue was that it worked amazingly some of the time but then on other times it didn’t work well at all even though the box was showing it locked on. On the 200-400 f4 w/1.4x and 100-400ii when they had teleconverters on it tends to backfocus slightly. On my 800 f11 with animal eye af it also tends to miss behind also. On my 800 f5.6 it tends to miss in front of the eye. I’m sure for some people’s standards it might be good enough, but for me as a professional this is not really acceptable. I did look at many of the reviewers images and noticed similar trends with focus missing that I saw, but they definitely overlooked those results. Many of the images they were counting as keepers I would not consider acceptable. I also tested these lenses with taking photos of people and the eye af worked wonderfully as advertised. Also I did try animal eye af with the 135 f2 and 85 f1.4 and also found that it was unreliable. The good news is that the classic focus modes are more accurate then any DSLR I’ve used so it’s still definitely worth the upgrade for wildlife photographers. For those shooting people the eye af works basically perfectly and I do not miss focus with the fast primes. The silent shutter works wonderfully and is awesome for photographing wildlife, I would definitely recommend it over the mechanical unless you are shooting songbirds in slight due to rolling shutter. I found the sharpness of the images to be slightly less then the 5DSR I was using before, however the additional iso performance sorta makes up for this. I do truly love the camera and once I adapted to the AF system I am getting really spectacular results

The R5 is a keeper!
Since digital cameras first debuted on the consumer market around 1998, I've used many of them. The Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel dSLR was my first Canon camera, purchased in late 2003. I worked the Rebel hard for many years, and moved up through the APS-C dSLRs until switching to full-frame with the 6D. This was also a Canon camera I stuck with and worked it hard, but Canon's mirrorless eventually beckoned, so I jumped to the R a year after it was released. Now I'm loving the R5, which I expect to also work hard for many years to come. Despite the high price, it ticks all the boxes! Keep a camera for years, and the cost fades away once you love the photos that it captures. After a few months of working with a new camera, the controls becomes effortless, yielding more productivity and the resulting photos give pure pleasure.

Excellent camera... however
I have spent a lot of time with this camera and both the 100-500L lens, as well as a 300mmL EF mount with adapter. The camera works beautifully with the EF lenses and adapter - no loss of performance or sharpness. However, the camera freezes every time I use it, which is daily. The only fix is to stop shooting, and remove the battery. I am hoping a firmware update will fix this. As a pro shooter, this is beyond annoying.
