The Z fc’s Vari-angle display can face forward for easier vlogging and first-person recording. This activates self-portrait mode, bringing key camera controls to the monitor so you can conveniently touch and tap adjustments.

Live streaming and web conferencing

Simply connect the camera to your computer with a USB Type-C cable (sold separately)—it provides power too—and compatible software like the free Nikon Webcam Utility. Introducing a special edition, classic designed 28mm prime lens. One of the Z system’s smallest, lightest full-frame primes. Get excellent image quality with its street smart 28mm perspective—42mm on DX cameras (35mm equivalent) and fast f/2.8 max aperture. This is the lens for being spontaneous.

Aspherical Lens

A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the centre of the lens.

IF Lens

A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.

Stepping Motor

NIKKOR Z lenses use a stepping motor for fast, accurate, smooth, quiet autofocus with reduced wobbling. This quiet drive system makes the lenses ideal for use when shooting video.

Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism

An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting.

All-purpose sensibility

On a DX-format Z camera like the Z fc or Z 50, the NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) performs like a 42mm (35mm equivalent). That’s a great all-purpose view for videos, snapshots, portraits—just about anything. On a full-frame Z camera, it delivers a classic 28mm view, the perspective of choice for street photography, architecture, interiors and situational portraits.

The multi-focus difference

Traditional primes focus by moving one group of lens elements with one motor. The NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) divides that work between two focus groups and two high-speed, ultra-quiet stepping motors moving in sync with each other—a first for a non S-line Z lens. This multi-focus system focuses faster, but it also reduces distortion at the frame edges and close range scenes.
