A high-end 4K indoor remote camera aimed at supporting advanced workflows in the video production market, including live broadcast of large-scale events such as sports competitions and music concerts, as well as production of reality shows and dramas. Expanding on Canon’s remote camera lineup, the new high-end CR-N700 joins the current mid-range CR-N500 and entry-level CR-N300 to meet varying needs in the market, while addressing the rising demand for remote video production through IP1 connection.

Capable of delivering superb image quality, the CR-N700 supports high-quality video recording in 4K/60P/4 : 2 : 2/10-bit format, and enables HDR recording in either HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) or PQ (Perceptual Quantization) formats to fulfill varied production requirements. Leveraging on Canon’s technology and expertise in developing professional video cameras, the CR-N700 also features a 15x zoom lens, 1.0-inch CMOS sensor, and DIGIC DV7 image processing engine among other features which enhance image quality.

In addition to Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus, the CR-N700 comes with enhanced human recognition features known as the eye-detect AF and head-detect AF. Optimising advanced video shooting and subject tracking, the eye-detect AF keeps the eyes of subject firmly in focus among other subjects in the foreground, while the head-detect AF tracks the head and back of subject closely even amid intense movement. The innovative features provide broadcasters with the ability to detect and track fast-moving subjects such as athletes in sports competitions, with greater accuracy and clarity.

The CR-N700 supports the XC protocol (a newly developed IP that controls Canon’s video production cameras), the NDI®|HX2 (a widely used protocol in the market) and the SRT3 (a video transmission protocol commonly adopted for its high-quality, low-lag, and reliable video data transfer). On top of remote production, the CR-N700 facilitates the increasingly popular virtual production with support for free-d4, a protocol primarily used in virtual studio systems, allowing high image quality in VR and AR video production.
