The lens is equipped with TAMRON's proprietary VC mechanism, and effectively controls camera shake that can occur when shooting at telephoto focal lengths. It also helps reduce fuzzy pictures when shooting handheld in low-light conditions or at slower shutter speeds. Furthermore, using AI technologies, the lens chooses the appropriate compensation characteristics for videography at focal lengths of 100mm or less.

Half-macro photography with 1:2 magnification ratio at the 50mm to 70mm focal length

Users can customize the functions and easily update the firmware[3] through the lens, and by using the Mobile version, Focus Preset and A-B Focus can be operated remotely without touching the lens. Additionally, with the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 you can select the “Focus Limiter” function that allows you to limit the focus search range of the AF. This function shortens the time taken to refocus when a subject slips out of focus and prevents focusing on obstacles in front of a subject.
